Max's First Labor Day Meeting

Had he not slept the entire time, Max would have heard some very excellent gospel preaching.

Friday night he slept through Clint DeFrance, Stan Owens and Johnny Elmore. He did squirm a bit, but basically he heard nothing. Even so, the preachers did an excellent job.

Saturday night he slept through Billy Dickinson, Jerry Dickinson and Wayne McKamie.

Sunday morning at Fossil Creek he slept through Ronny Wade's sermon on the type of Christians needed in the church. It was an excellent sermon. I'll make him listen to it (it's recorded) when he's older and more alert.

Sunday night was the final night of the meeting. He squirmed and made faces in his sleep while Bruce Roebuck made faces from the pulpit, but delivered an excellent sermon about giving place to the devil. Kevin Presley and Ronny Wade both did their usual excellent job, but alas - Max had no idea of what he was missing.

In the years to come he'll hear recordings of these sermons and realize how great the preaching was. It was a great first gospel meeting for him. It sets the standard pretty high.
